M + S

Meet Meghan + Samuel! These two just shine. We fondly remember asking them about their story + how they met whenever they came to tour with us. We could so tangibly feel their love + adoration for one another just listening to them laugh, talk, and reminisce on how their relationship unfolded! We were thrilled that they chose to spend their wedding day with us at The Emerson!

Here’s their love story - “Sam and I met at some point in college (we honestly can't pinpoint when or where, potentially salsa dancing at The Village in Bryan, TX), but nothing really transpired until after college. In the summer of 2020, what started as a few simple messages in the Instagram DMs, turned into exchanging phone numbers which turned into lots of long phone calls. The catch was that I was living in Dallas and Sam was living in Houston. So this period of constant communication lasted for about a month and towards the end of September 2020, I was getting pretty impatient. I enjoyed talking to Sam and wanted him to ask me on a date. From Sam's perspective, he would state his case that he wanted to ask me on our first date in person, but of course, the distance from Houston to Dallas made that possibility quite difficult. A few more weeks went by, I got more impatient, and Sam came to terms with the fact that he was going to have to just call me to ask me on our first date. Sam was staying in Fort Worth with some of his college roommates for about a 2 week period of time, and he seized the opportunity. So, he FINALLY called me and asked me to go on a date and I, without any hesitation, said yes. Our first date consisted of dinner at Sixty Vines, a porch hang with my favorite beer back at my house (s/o Glendale), and a walk down Swiss Avenue (re: important foreshadowing). I agreed to go on a second date while our first date was still happening, which is quite opposite of my personality. We ended up going on 4 dates total in 5 days. Sam went back to Houston for a week or so and next time he was back in DFW, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We dated long distance for 7 months and Sam clocked many hours up and down I-45. In June of 2021, Sam had an opportunity to move to Dallas which was a huge blessing. We got to live in the same city for about a year and it was so sweet to explore new places together and hang out with each other's close friends. To make a long story short, at the end of May 2022, Sam and I were both on the same page about marriage. Knowing that I was moving to Houston for school in August 2022, kind of put a deadline on the engagement. This past summer was super sweet getting to spend our last few months with our Dallas people and preparing to move to Houston to start a new life together as the Halls. On July 30, 2022, after a lot of white lying by my friends and family and Sam, Sam proposed at Savage Park on Swiss Avenue (re: our first date). It was simple and real and it was a long time coming. We got to celebrate with all of our closest people that night and then made the move to Houston the following weekend.”

What drew M + S to choosing The Emerson for their big day - “Two words: the chapel. The simplistic beauty of the all-white chapel. The timeless but modern design of the entire venue, is just right up our alley as far as aesthetic and style goes. The Emerson was the only venue we toured in person and both of just knew it was going to be the perfect place to have our wedding.”

Congratulations M + S! We hope marriage has been all you’ve dreamed of + more! Thank you for choosing us to host your big day! Another thank you goes to all the vendors who executed the details of this perfect day! Be sure to check out the whole team below!

VINTAGE MARQUEE SIGN

Our marquee sign is without a doubt the most iconic rental item in our collection! Each of the venue packages that we offer comes with a “Pick One” perk - which allows our couples to choose between an arch for the ceremony space or our marquee sign! It’s safe to say that the marquee sign is the popular choice. We set it up in front of the house + it’s the first thing that your guests will see as they pull up to the venue! We love to watch our couples get creative with the wording week after week. :)
